Please explore the availability grid below to see if I can fit you in on the dates you would like to stay.
The above photo is of Sunshine Beach where the walk around the headland to Noosa Heads starts. A lovely walk!
Sunshine Beach to Alexandria Bay.
The walk from Noosa Heads main beach to Hell's Gate and the Fairy Pools is very popular. But also very often crowded. Why not try the walk from the other side? Start at Parkshores Sunshine and walk along Sunshine Beach Heading North (the ocean will be on your right).
You will reach some steps (just at the right of the above photo). At the top of the steps you have a magnificent view of Sunshine Beach and all the way to Maroochydore. This is also a great spot to view the annual whale migration.
Stay on the coastal path and you will pass by a very small beach and then Devil's Kitchen.
Alexandria Bay and Hell's Gate.
The path will lead you to a mostly deserted beach called Alexandria Bay. This is only 2 kilometres from Noosa Heads main beach but you will feel you could be on a deserted island in the middle of the pacific!
The beach at Alexandria Bay is only 1 kilometre wide and leads up to the point at Hell's Gate. This is where most people walking from Noosa and Noosa Heads stop and turn around. If you continue you will soon see the difference with how many people don't explore the Sunshine Beach side of the headland!
Please remember that only Noosa Heads main beach and Sunshine Beach are patrolled beaches. The other beaches are not patrolled at all, so swimming is not advisable. These deserted beaches are also not the easiest to reach if you need help.
It's an absolutely fantastic walk to take at any time of the day, or any time of the year. Another example of why Parkshores Sunshine Beach apartments is the place to base yourself to see the wonderful Noosa area!
Tips and hints when walking in the bush.
Wear closed shoes. Preferably joggers or gym shoes. High heels not recommended!
Flip flops and thongs (Australian for flip flops) will not protect you if you stub your toe and don't offer much purchase or traction on rocks.
Other precautions.
Especially relevant to the headland walk, but also relevant to any walking in the Australian bush or any National Park, watch where you are walking and be aware of loose terrain. The Noosa National Park headland walk has many areas where you are close to cliffs. The coastal walk is unfenced and therefore potentially dangerous to the unwary.
Take and apply a good sunscreen.
The Australian sun is very fierce! You may feel cool with the ocean breezes but this only compounds the likelihood of getting burnt by the sun.
Wear a hat.
A nice wide-brimmed hat is great.
Most of all? Enjoy the walk!!
